Taylor's Generator Journey

I’d like to introduce you to Taylor, though if you are a Generator you may already know her.  While some people come to Generator for injury recovery, and some come to improve athletic performance, Taylor’s journey didn’t start with either of these.  Hers is a personal recovery story of a different sort.

Taylor was a college athlete -- a runner.  She was fit and healthy and understood the importance of staying healthy so she could race competitively.  One of her first jobs out of college also involved running. She worked in the running industry so for a while after college Taylor kept up her fitness without thinking about it much.  However, Taylor discovered that “when it’s your job, it’s not as much fun” and soon running took less important role in her life. Her next professional job meant a lot of travel and many hours, and running was put on the back burner.  Never did Taylor think that she was not staying fit and healthy -- she never had to think about it before, and she didn’t think about it then, until ….

Last spring Taylor took a trip to Mexico and didn’t like what she saw when looking at photos of herself at the beach.  She hardly recognized her body and wondered ‘what happened!?’ (Actually, she *knew* what happened, she was just aghast that she let it happen.)  She vowed to get herself back in shape and back to the body she knew best. That’s when a friend told her about Generator Athlete Lab.

When Taylor walked through the door she immediately felt at home.  Our recovery lab with the full-spectrum infrared sauna, and the hot-and-cold contrast tubs were something she was familiar with from her college running days.  She knew that these tools are not widely available and was amazed that she once again had access to the same recovery tools that she had as a collegiate athlete.

After her first fitness class she was hooked.  She says the two best things about Generator’s classes are: 1) the small class size of six means everyone gets individual attention, it’s like having a personal trainer; and 2) 30 minutes class length with a rotating schedule means you can take advantage of all the classes without switching up your own schedule (which is sometimes impossible with a busy work life).

At first, Taylor was skeptical about the 30 minutes class length, she wondered if she could really get a good workout in only 30 minutes. But after trying it, she is sold.  Taylor learned that HIIT/Tabata-style classes are actually more efficient in 30 minutes than a longer class -- you burn the same amount of calories in less time. The LIIT classes are great for recovery days, and the variety of class offerings help keep her workout schedule interesting and fun.

Taylor remarked that she really enjoys the spirit of support and camaraderie she finds at Generator.  She notes that while everyone there is on their own unique recovery and fitness journey, people are friendly, helpful, and open to sharing useful tips.

“I’ve learned a lot from others.  Sauna talks are the real deal at Generator.”

Nine months later, after a lot of hard work and recovery at Generator, along with eating wiser, Taylor went back to Mexico and this time is overjoyed with what she sees in her beach/bikini photos. Her recovery-to-fitness journey hasn’t stopped.  You can find Taylor at Generator daily (when she’s not traveling.)

“It was a lot of hard work and it doesn’t happen overnight, but I see the results I was hoping for.  I got my health back and lowered my stress level as well.”

We’re so proud of Taylor for making the effort, sticking to her plan, and reaching her goals.
