What’s Good for Gwyneth Is Also Good for You!

When Gwyneth Paltrow, actress known for her healthy lifestyle brand Goop, recently posted an Instagram photo of herself in her home sauna, the internet went crazy with oohs and ahhs over how great she looks. Rightly so!

Gwyneth clearly understands the power of an infrared sauna and while not everyone can have their own personal infrared sauna in their home, YOU have access to the exact same sauna at Generator Athlete Lab!  Our is a bit bigger but it’s otherwise the exact same sauna with the exact same benefits that Gwyneth enjoys.

There are TWO important things to know about Generator’s sauna.

#1 -  It’s Infrared!

Traditional saunas (non infrared) work by heating the air in the room, which then heats the surface of the skin, which then warms the underlying muscles and tissues. Temperatures in traditional saunas range from 160–200 degrees Fahrenheit, making it difficult to stay in these saunas for long.  Additionally, too much time in a traditional sauna can cause heat-related exhaustion and dehydration.

Infrared (IR) saunas are heated by non-visible wavelengths of light (in the infrared part of the spectrum—hence the name). Infrared light penetrates about an inch and a half into the body, heating tissues directly, rather than heating the air first.  This ensures the radiant energy goes to the areas of the body where you need them the most. Infrared saunas can deliver healing benefits at temperatures between 115-140 degrees Fahrenheit. Since the inside of an infrared sauna is cooler than a traditional sauna, you can spend more time enjoying all the health and relaxation benefits that come with the experience.

Studies suggest greater health benefits of IR saunas, including improved brain function, reduced blood pressure, and real weight loss, due to the depth of wavelength penetration.

#2 - It’s Full Spectrum!

Unlike IR saunas offered at most spas and fitness centers which offer either near or far infrared, Generator’s IR sauna offers the full spectrum of infrared wavelength -- near, mid, and far -- for maximum benefit.

Near -- Near infrared wavelengths have a lower micron level and a resulting shorter wavelength which mostly penetrates the epidermis layer of the skin. Near-infrared wavelength provides improvement of cell health, renewal of skin, tissue growth and wound healing.

Mid -- Mid infrared wavelengths penetrate deeper into the body than near infrared and are therefore good for increasing circulation and blood flow. When used on a consistent basis, mid infrared sauna therapy has been shown to significantly increase blood flow and reduce muscle and joint pain. Healing can occur faster because mid infrared penetrates deeper into soft tissue where inflammation occurs.

Far -- Far infrared wavelengths raise the core body temperature and produce a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where most toxins reside. Far infrared also aids in blood pressure reduction & weight loss, giving you a great passive aerobic exercise.

We believe in the healing, restorative powers of the full-spectrum infrared sauna.  You don’t have to trust our word for it, or the photos posted by mega-stars. You don’t even have to trust the research studies on the topic. Just come to Generator and experience it for yourself.
